The Sunset Phenomena

The Sunset Phenomena

You and your family are spending a week in Broome soaking up some winter warmth and tropical relaxation. And what will you do almost every afternoon is hurry down to Cable Beach and toast the spectacular sunset.

You will gaze in awe at nature’s palette with big smiles, a pattern repeated with thousands of others doing exactly the same thing. It is indeed one of Broome’s best holiday activities, widely promoted by travel companies.

But, here’s the question. We have sunsets every bit as spectacular back home (Perth in our case) so why don’t we check out the sun dipping below the horizon in the same way as Broome?

My theory is that we are so caught up in our frenetic lives that we don’t have the time or inclination to spend a few precious moments soaking in one of nature’s great highlights that is free and available every day. We think that such indulgences are for holidays only. But why should that be the case?

All that is required is to cultivate a travel mindset and repeat the Cable Beach ritual back home as often as we can. Salute the setting sun with gratitude, wonder and let the stresses of the day float away on the cooling breezes.
