West End Staycation

West End Staycation

King Street in Perth was gazetted in 1845. The area, once thriving with workers’ cottages, shops, coal yards and foundries, now is the designer hub of Perth. It is also a great area to have a staycation in the West End Perth

Friday…

Matt Adnate’s work in the foyer of the Adnate Perth Hotel

We checked into the new Adnate Hotel Perth. This Hotel is an art gallery in itself, with murals by Matt Adnate and photos of his other works around the world. Then head to their “pool bar” Hyde Perth Kitchen and Cocktails for a cocktail to celebrate the beginning to the weekend.

Saturday…

Street art of Wolf Lane and Adnate Hotel

When in West End, you would have to browse King Street. It is now home of many high end European designer brands including Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Tiffany & Co. Local jewellery designers, Kailis Australian Pearls and Linneys also have outlets here.

Off King Street is Wolf Lane. Lined with street art and funky alleyway cafes and bars, it’s worth a stroll and stop for refreshments. Wolf Lane Bar is an amazing “twisted storybook den” collection of vintage furniture and knick-knacks.

The West End of Perth is event central with His Majesty’s Theatre (Perth’s oldest theatre) and Perth Arena (one of Perth’s newest). So, whether is opera, ballet, rock concert of tennis, it is very handy.

Sunday…

The West End is in walking distance of Kings Park (Straight up Mount Street) and Elizabeth Quay, both good places for breakfast with a view and a Sunday morning stroll.
