About Us
Pelusey – that is Michael and Jane Pelusey – has evolved from its early beginnings.
Michael Pelusey's career in photography had its tentative beginnings way back in 1985, when he met an editor of a local Perth newspaper at a particularly boozy party. Mike casually mentioned that he was going backpacking around South America for an indefinite period. Could he show her the photographs when he got back? She said yes, and 12 months later Mike presented his portfolio of exotic South American images. It so happened that the newspaper's regular photographer was on his honeymoon so Mike filled in for two weeks. Such was the high standard of Mike's photography, his amateur status rapidly turned professional. Since then Mike hasn't looked back. In 1992 he got married, threw caution to the wind and became a freelancer. Travel photography in out of the way places became his passion along with an urge to write feature articles for National Geographic. Email Michael : michael@pelusey.com
Jane Pelusey got the travel bug at about the age of twelve. The sights and sounds of the Pacific Islands whet her appetite for travel and adventure. Long holidays and great working holiday prospects made nursing an excellent career choice for financing her itchy feet. She graduated in 1986 as a Registered Nurse. Marrying Mike in 1992, certainly didn't hinder her travel ambitions as they ventured throughout Asia, Central America and other exotic places. In between travelling, Jane worked as a Registered Nurse in Intensive Care and specialised in Trauma Management. In 2000, Jane left the hospital and the world of nursing to work full time in Pelusey Photography. Adding to her busy life, she found time to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Sociology.
Jane tackled the two fears in her life – snakes and public speaking in different ways. Now a Toastmaster competent communicator public speaking is no longer a fear. Snakes however remain an issue. When doing the Bibbulmun trail with Mike in 2006, the multitude of trail loving tiger snakes didn’t help the problem. Email Jane: jane@pelusey.com
Pelusey has changed and diversified since 1986. It began with photography. Since then we have added our writing and project skills to the mix.
We provide the initial idea for our projects. We then write great words, combine them with fantastic photographs - to bring the story to life.
Whether a small newspaper article or a 160 page book, we endeavour to provide the best possible ideas, words and images.
